PROGRAM SNAPSHOT

A regional rebate launched in 2026.

The Denver Regional Council of Governments announced the $1,500 offer in July 2026. Check current availability and your property’s eligibility directly with Power Ahead Colorado.

Match the address, model, and contractor.

The announced offer applies to ENERGY STAR certified cold-climate heat pumps installed by a verified Power Ahead Colorado contractor. A contractor’s general HVAC license does not by itself establish program participation.

Ask the program to verify your exact address. This is a Denver-region offer, not an automatic benefit for every home in Colorado.

Start with the official advisor or contractor finder.

Power Ahead Colorado provides energy advisors and a contractor finder searchable by city or ZIP code. Use those resources to confirm whether the proposed home and installation fit the program.

Before signing, ask which equipment qualifies, who submits the rebate paperwork, when any approval is required, and how the discount appears on the estimate. Keep the program’s answer with the written scope.

A separate regional program.

Power Ahead Colorado is a DRCOG initiative backed by an EPA grant. Its regional incentives are distinct from Colorado’s statewide HEAR program and from utility offers.

If an estimate lists several incentives, identify each administrator. The existence of one active regional program does not mean another program is open or that your installation qualifies for both.

Compare the work behind the discount.

Ask for the outdoor and indoor equipment model numbers, the areas the system will serve, and the proposed approach to cold-weather heating. Clarify whether the quote includes duct changes, electrical work, permits, controls, and removal of old equipment.

Have the contractor show the complete price and each confirmed discount separately. An attractive rebate cannot tell you whether two estimates include the same work.

Common question

Can I combine it with other offers?

DRCOG says the regional rebate can be combined with other incentives. The other program’s eligibility and combination rules still need to be checked. Ask for confirmation of the specific offers in your quote rather than a sum of advertised maximums.

Common question

Can I add the old $2,000 federal tax credit?

Not for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025 under section 25C. Keep this regional rebate separate from expired federal tax-credit claims when reviewing the expected cost of a new installation.
