Whole-home incentives, based on savings.

Georgia HER offers rebates based on household income and the modeled savings of the entire project. Its highest published cap is $16,000 for qualifying low-income projects; that is not a standalone heat-pump rebate.

HER open; new HEAR submissions paused.

Georgia paused new single-family and multifamily HEAR applications on August 14, 2026. Earlier submissions may still be reviewed, subject to eligibility and funding. The state continues accepting HER applications. Do not plan around a new standalone HEAR equipment application while this pause remains in place.

How Georgia’s HER tiers work.

Below 80% AMI, the published caps are $10,000 for 20%–34% savings or $16,000 for at least 35%, limited to 98% of eligible costs. At or above 80% AMI, the corresponding caps are $2,000 or $4,000, limited to 50% of eligible costs.

The assessment and approved scope determine the savings category. A heat-pump quote alone does not establish the award.

Ask about assessment fees first.

Contact a program-approved contractor for a home energy assessment. Ask what the assessment costs before agreeing to it and whether that charge will be included in the project bill if you proceed. Have the contractor explain the proposed work and expected savings.

Get your household information ready.

Georgia requires a primary residence in the state and an approved upgrade. Its eligibility page lists identification, residency and ownership evidence, landlord authorization for rentals, and income evidence when applying for income-based rebates. Certain benefit programs can help establish income eligibility.

Use the official document checklist for your circumstances. Prepare records before the appointment, but submit them only through the program’s instructed process. Ask the call center for help if the requested evidence is unavailable.

Compare the cost you will actually pay.

Ask for the full project price, the approved incentive, and your remaining payment as separate figures. Also ask what changes if the modeled savings or approved scope changes. Decide whether the complete set of improvements fits your home and budget, rather than choosing a project just because it advertises the largest possible award.

Apply to the open pathway.

Use the official HER page below to find the current participation steps and approved-contractor route. If you already submitted HEAR paperwork, follow the administrator’s guidance for that existing application; a new HVAC inquiry does not change its place in review.

Common question

Apply through the official program.

Temperaly is an independent HVAC inquiry service. A request here does not apply for a rebate, reserve funding, establish eligibility, or book a program-approved installer. Use the official program link below for an application or program questions. Share income documents only through the administrator’s requested process.
